What is Dig In The Bible?
It's a platform for teaching whole families the truths and reliability of Scripture. We believe the Word of God is the only hope we have to restore the created order of the Family and truth, in a world full of lies. Our mission is to assist parents in teaching the truths of the gospel and grow each member in a deep relationship with Jesus Christ. Church attendance is important, but on it's own it's not enough. We believe the proper order includes parents teaching children from the Bible in the home. We want you and your family to walk through life with the confidence and peace that comes with knowing for yourself.
The Berean Posture
We believe, like the Bereans in Acts 17, that checking the scriptures to see what is true is the best approach. We study the Bible with their same eagerness, but like them we do not intend to be led astray.
Genuine hermeneutics with a Christ like posture of heart is the methodology we use to seek the truth, in God's word as well as the world.
We use guidelines to make sure we are studying the Bible through the lens of the person of Jesus Christ alone, not our private interpretation, or our personal wishes and desires. We are ever-searching for the objective truth, and not biblical back up for our philosophy, arguments, or denominational doctrines.
We want the truth and nothing but the truth. That search always leads us back to Jesus. If you're on the same search for truth, join us!
Exegesis vs Eisegesis
The guidelines don't stop at just our attitude, but continue into all parts of our studies. We follow the strictest of scholarship fundamentals to keep us on the accurate path when we excavate and dig up the treasures that the Bible has to be uncovered.
Exegesis means letting the text say what it says and not what we say. We trust in the univocal message and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Bible, from cover to cover, is the Holy Spirit's testimony of Jesus.
We believe the Bible doesn't need our help to show it's accuracy and divine inspiration. When we try to help the text along we lose out on seeing the valuable lessons that are found in a more patient and thoughtful examination.
Eisegesis is what we call it when we insert what WE mean into the text instead of Exegesis, or drawing out what the author of the text intended to communicate to us.
Be A Detective
When you approach the Bible, be more like a detective than a lawyer. A detective is looking for the truth, while a lawyer is mounting a defense. Ultimately we want the truth, which sometimes means finding out we are wrong.
We're here to serve you
We want to give your families the tools and resources that make it easier for you to teach your kids the things you want them to learn. We don't want to get in the way, we want to lend a hand.
